A long time ago, in a land far away, there lived a young woman named Mary. She came from a small village called Nazareth. One day, an angel named Gabriel visited her and told her she was going to have a special baby. This baby would be God’s son, and she should name him Jesus. Mary was surprised but very brave, and she said yes to the angel’s message.

Joseph, a good man, married Mary. When Mary was about to have her baby, they had to travel to a town called Bethlehem because of a rule from the Roman Emperor, who wanted to carry out a census to count the people who lived in his kingdom. It was a long journey, and when they arrived, there were so many people that all the rooms were full. They looked and looked for a place to stay, but there was nowhere for Mary and Joseph.

Finally, a kind innkeeper said they could stay in his stable, where the animals were. That night, in that cosy place with the hay, Mary gave birth to baby Jesus. They wrapped him up in soft cloths and laid him in a manger, which was a feeding box for the animals.

In the fields nearby, there were shepherds watching over their sheep. Suddenly, an angel appeared to them, shining bright and beautiful! The angel told the shepherds the good news: a Saviour was born that night in Bethlehem, and they should go see him. Excited, the shepherds hurried to the stable, and when they saw baby Jesus, they were filled with joy. They worshipped him and told everyone they met about the wonderful baby.

Far away, some wise men saw a bright star in the sky. They knew it meant something special had happened, so they followed the star, bringing gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh for baby Jesus. When they reached the stable, they also knelt down and honoured the newborn king.

And so, baby Jesus brought joy to everyone around him. People sang and celebrated, knowing that this little baby was a gift of love and hope for the whole world.
