Rite of Christian Initiation

St. John the Baptist baptising Jesus in the River Jordan

The parish of Ashbourne is happy to facilitate the ‘Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults’ (RCIA). Since 2010, Ashbourne parish has welcomed over 40 men and women from parishes all over East Meath into the Catholic Church. Any adult not a member of the Catholic Church and interested in receiving all or some of the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation or Eucharist is welcome to follow the invitation of Jesus and ‘Come and See‘ (John 1:38-39).

A preparatory program for those interested begins in September each year. It runs through Easter and up until Pentecost the following year. To participate in the programme, the person putting themselves forward must be willing to learn and discover the richness of the Christian faith. Anyone interested in becoming a Catholic should introduce themselves to one of Ashbourne’s priests.
