One day, Jesus and his friends, the disciples, were travelling on a boat across a big lake called the Sea of Galilee. One evening, they decided to rest after a long day of teaching and helping people. Jesus was so tired that he fell asleep in the back of the boat.

Suddenly, as they were sailing, a fierce storm emerged! The wind howled, and the waves crashed against the boat, making it rock back and forth. The disciples were frightened, as the storm was so strong that they feared the boat might sink! They shouted to each other in fear, “Help! We’re going to drown!” But Jesus was still asleep, even with all the noise around him. The disciples quickly went to wake him up. “Teacher! Teacher! Don’t you care that we’re sinking?” they cried.

Jesus woke up, looked at the wild storm, and calmly said to the wind and the waves, “Be still!” Right away, the wind stopped blowing, and the waves became very calm. The storm was gone! The disciples watched with amazement, realising that even the wind and the sea had to listen to Jesus. Then Jesus turned to them and asked, “Why were you afraid? Do you still have no faith?” Still astonished, the disciples whispered, “Who is this man that the wind and waves obey him?”

This story teaches us that even when things seem scary or out of control, we can trust Jesus to take care of us, just like he took care of his friends in the boat. No matter what storms we face in life, Jesus is always with us, helping us to be brave.
