Long ago, in the land of Bethlehem, lived a brave young shepherd boy named David. He spent his days caring for his father’s sheep, singing songs, and playing his harp.

David came from a tribe called the Israelites, and they were at war with another tribe called the Philistines. One of them was a giant named Goliath. He was so tall and strong that everyone was afraid of him! Goliath shouted at the Israelites, challenging them to send someone to fight him. Day after day, he scared the soldiers and made them feel like there was no hope. Most of them ran away in fear.

But young David wasn’t afraid. He heard Goliath’s loud voice and decided someone needed to stand up to the giant. David told King Saul, “I can fight Goliath! I have fought off bears and lions to protect my sheep. God has helped me, and I believe He will help me again.” At first, King Saul was unsure, but he could see David’s determination. So, he let David go, and he even tried to give him heavy armor to wear, but David didn’t feel comfortable in it. Instead, he decided to go with his sling and five smooth stones from the river.

When David arrived at the battlefield, Goliath laughed at him. “Am I a dog that you come at me with sticks?” he boomed. But David stood tall and said, “You come to fight me with a sword and a spear, but I come to you in the name of the Lord!” Then, with faith in his heart, David took a stone, placed it in his sling, and spun it around quickly. With one swift motion, he let the stone fly! It hit Goliath right in the forehead, and the giant fell to the ground with a thud.

The Israelites cheered! David had won the battle, not with swords or armour but with bravery, faith, and a little help from God. From that day on, David became a hero, proving that no matter the challenge, you can overcome it if you believe in yourself and trust in God.
