Long ago, in a great kingdom, there lived a kind and wise man named Daniel. Daniel loved God very much and always prayed to Him. He was so good at his job that the king trusted him with many important responsibilities. However, some other workers in the kingdom were jealous of Daniel. They didn’t like that the king liked Daniel so much, so they thought of a tricky plan to stop him. They went to the king and said, “Your Majesty, we think everyone should only pray to you for thirty days! Anyone who prays to another god should be thrown into the lion’s den!” The king thought this sounded like a good idea and agreed to the new law.

When Daniel heard about this new law, he didn’t get scared. Even though he knew he could get into trouble, he kept praying to God just like he always did, with his window open so everyone could see him. The jealous workers saw him praying and quickly went to tell the king. The king was very angry when he learned that Daniel had broken the law. He didn’t want to punish Daniel because he cared for him, but he had to follow the law. So, he had Daniel thrown into a den filled with lions. But the king hoped that Daniel’s God would save him.

That night, while Daniel was in the lion’s den, God sent an angel to shut the lions’ mouths so they couldn’t hurt Daniel. Daniel was safe and sound, spending the night calmly among the lions. The next morning, the king rushed to the lion’s den and called out, “Daniel, did your God save you?” Daniel replied, “Yes, O king! God sent an angel to protect me, and the lions didn’t hurt me at all!” The king was overjoyed! He ordered that Daniel be taken out of the den, and he praised God for saving him. The jealous workers, however, were not so lucky. The king made sure they were thrown into the lion’s den instead.

From that day on, everyone in the kingdom learnt about Daniel’s bravery and the incredible power of his God. Daniel continued to serve the king and pray to God, showing everyone the importance of faith and trusting in God, no matter what!
